This afternoon, Steve, Vinh, Conic, & I headed over to San Jose for their annual Music in the Park shows. Today Vanessa Carlton was the main attraction! First, we headed to Lee's Sandwich to buy dinner & then we headed to San Jose, traffic & all, to arrive at around 4:15. We were like 8-10 feet away from the stage this time, closer than when we went to see Mandy Moore last summer.
The first band to perform was The Buzz, which we actually saw last summer before Mandy Moore. They definitely got better since then, but still needs some work. Next was the opening band for Vanessa, Dusty Rhodes & the River Band. I'm not a big fan of '70s rock or folk music, but their instrumentals are amazing, just not the singing so much. I mean this band had guitars, basses, drums, violin, & an accordian, haha. After they finished performing, like everyone stood up & rushed to the front near the stage to wait for Vanessa to arrive. Good thing Steve & I ran early cuz we were like the second row in the front, ahh! It was great cuz we were literally like 5 feet away from her.
Finally, Vanessa Carlton arrives after like 10 minutes & the show started! She sang quite a few of my favorite songs including 1,000 Miles, Ordinary Day, Nolita Fairytale, Heroes & Thieves, & White Houses. She's cute kinda like the girl next door shy type. This was definitely a way more pleasant experience since no girls were shoving & yelling like maniacs, haha!
