First San Francisco 49ers Game!

On Sunday, August 24th, Vinh & I got to attend our very first NFL game at the new Levi's Stadium. We finally got to watch the San Francisco 49ers play in their new home. I don't know about the hubs, but I was pretty friggin' excited to see the new stadium & watch our favorite football team play against the San Diego Chargers!

Us chillin' in front of the field

We arrived at our parking lot (blue #1) around 10AM with minimal traffic getting in. Once in the lot, we saw plenty of tailgaters. We have never tailgated before, but we decided to go into the stadium instead to check things out.

Levi's Stadium is located in Santa Clara & it is one gorgeous stadium. Very modern & obviously new since it's only hosted two games thus far. However, we soon found out that the stadium should have been rotated 180 degrees as the non-suite seats were in the boiling heat for the entirety of the game, ick. They did have a cool ticket scanner though. It looks like a pole & you stick the bar code underneath the gap & it lights up green when you're good to enter! :)

Through the security checkpoint

Through the gates & onto the stadium!

We checked out the team store, but quickly exited as there were a gazillion people inside! We took this extra time to walk around the stadium & the ushers even let us go down to the front row seats to check out the field up close. Obviously, photos must always be taken since we'll never be able to afford these amazing seats ever :P

Up close & personal with the team warming up!

Vinh's obligatory photo :P

The food selections were certainly very interesting. There were the usual overpriced items like hot dogs, pizza, BBQ. However, there was also things like steamed buns & curry. How weird. I also found it weird that it said jackfruit under the BBQ area, haha!

Jackfruit anyone?

The team's practice fields were adjacent to the stadium. I thought that was so convenient & it didn't have to damage the grass in the stadium itself.

Vinh & I had tickets in section 412, row 19, seats 15-16. Yup, we were in the top concourse & closest to the burning sun. However, we had a great view of the distance & of the whole field as we were almost in the center.

Welcome!

Kap is on the big screen!

The game began promptly at 1PM. We were amazed at the 9-year old girl that sang the anthem. She has some singing chops, that's for sure. I think she'll have a successful career ahead of her :)

49ers coming out!

Chargers punting to 49ers & our view

We were leading 10-7 by the end of the second quarter. At halftime, Vinh couldn't stand baking under the sun anymore so we snuck into section 228 where there were empty seats & shade a'plenty! These were definitely $100+ dollar seats so we got a nice free upgrade, haha. The view wasn't bad either since you got to see more of the action & less of the play tactics. Our boys had two interceptions, two touchdowns & one conversion in the second half, woot!

Interception #2

Our boys ended up winning 21-7 after possessing the ball & taking a knee three times. It was our team's first win in the preseason so it was exciting for us as it was our first game afterall! Thanks to our guys winning, we all got free coupons to get 2 free tacos from Jack in the Box, score!

49ers win!

Shake hands & leave

Cool gold & red lights heading down the escalator

Thanks for coming!

Bye Levi's Stadium!

A sea of red :)

Free tacos!

Getting out of the parking lot & onto the highway took about a half hour, which was better than what we expected. Overall, we had a blast celebrating our 2-year AnnieVinhsary at our first 49ers game! I wish games were cheaper, but I'm sure we'll attend another in the future :)

Do you like football? Have you ever attended a NFL game before? Did you fully enjoy the experience?

  1. Jeez - it looks like hardly anyone was there. Around here, you can't get Patriots tickets - even for preseason games. They ALL sell out.

    1. Possibly! Games are pretty pricey though. I'd prefer watching it on TV than shelling out $100+ for regular season tickets, ouch!
